Attention, citizens of the Federation! Our mission to keep you informed continues as we explore the depths of the upcoming Raising Hell DLC, revealing new forces joining the battle for Gehenna. For protection of its people and assets, the corporation that exploits Gehenna for its valuable resources has relied on contracted mercenaries. These are tough and battle hardened individuals, often with a background of military experience or have been forged by the unforgiving conditions of isolated human colonies.

Frag Mercs

In our continuing coverage of the Raising Hell DLC, we introduce you to a variety of mercenary unit types. Deploying mercenary units requires Funds: a new unit cap that works similar to War Support but separates Mobile Infantry and Mercenary unit types. For an optimal army composition, you’ll have to find a good mix of both.

Today we will highlight one of the fresh additions to the mercenary roster: the Frag Mercs.

A Flexible Weapon

The Frag Mercs are equipped with a unique weapon capable of toggling between firing fragmentation shells in close combat and launching grenades for longer distance engagements. The former is very effective to pin down waves of Arachnids, while the explosive grenades provide indirect fire support and excel at taking out armored enemies and structures.

Minelaying Abilities

Elite Frag Mercs gain the ability to deploy proximity mines. You can choose between either Frag Mines - which set off a consecutive series of charges when triggered - or Fire Mines - which do what it says on the box: bursting into a blazing fire.

When placed correctly, both mines can have a major impact on the outcome of a defensive engagement.
