What’s your mod? - Ed’s Diaries: Panzer Corps 2 Grand Campaign

Published on May 02, 2023

Last week in “What's your Mod?” I decided to revisit an old friend: the Panzer Corps 1 Grand Campaign. Lovingly remastered for Panzer Corps 2 by modders, the campaign was extremely well received back when it first appeared in Panzer Corps 1.

The scale of the work needed to bring this classic to life in Panzer Corps 2 cannot be understated: The mod includes more than 120 maps, new unit functionality, the ability to reserve your units mid battle, the ability to use certain units in artillery mode (as they were used in real life) and so much more.

Modders that make these kinds of mods are often the unsung heroes of a community: They bring old content to life. Content that some people would never try because maybe they don’t like the look of the old game, or maybe the old game doesn’t have modern features they can’t live without, or maybe they just can’t afford to also buy the old game.

Of course, the modders that create these kinds of mods have already played the original version. For them, there really isn’t anything to gain - it’s not as if they can play it fresh when they’ve spent months or even years importing all the assets and doing all the work! It’s this selflessness that I really admire.
They’ve done a great job and I hope that people will take the time to check out their work.

They’ve made something really excellent and I hope everyone gets to experience it. So grab it off of the Steam workshop and get stuck in. There really is no better time.

Regards,
Edmon
